Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic fulfilled his dream of an Olympic gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 37-year-old beat Carlos Alcaraz in the final and immediately fell to the ground and burst into tears.

Djokovic was overcome with emotion after winning the only title that had eluded him for a long time. Two weeks after that historic win, former British player and tennis presenter Laura Robson recalled that match and praised Djokovic.

Recalling her best memories from the 2024 Paris Olympics, Robson touched upon the epic final between Djokovic and Alcaraz. She called the Serbian’s win inspiring and also hailed him for living up to the expectations of the people.

All that build-up and pressure for Djokovic knowing Paris was probably his last Olympics and a final chance at gold. To play that well against someone he had lost to just a couple of weeks before. Someone who has just won two Grand Slams, who is having an incredible summer - I found it really inspiring!

She also talked about the rush of emotions the two players went through after the match was done and dusted.

Laura Robson feels Novak Djokovic will skip the US Open

After recalling the happy moments Novak Djokovic went through at the Paris Olympics, Laura Robson also commented on the Serbian’s chances of playing at the 2024 US Open. The Briton opined that Djokovic might find it difficult to rest after achieving the biggest sporting success.

She admitted that Djokovic could win the US Open if he takes part in the tournament. However, she was skeptical about the 37-year-old going to New York and fighting for the title.

He's achieved something that he's described as the pinnacle of his sporting career, so I think it's quite hard to reset after that. How can anything live up to that moment of winning the medal you've always wanted? Then to see his homecoming in Serbia and to see the reaction that he's had from the public. It will be tough to arrive in New York raring to go!
Laura Robson said about Novak Djokovic’s US Open participation

Djokovic has been celebrating his Olympic success for the last few days. He had a good time celebrating his gold medal win in Paris and then went to Serbia to share the joy with his country’s people. The 24-time Grand Slam champion also pulled out of the Cincinnati Open and has not made any announcement about his US Open participation.
