Helmut Marko claims aero genius Adrian Newey will be dressed in red in 2025 amidst Ferrari rum

The Red Bull camp has been living in constant havoc ever since the Christian Horner saga in the early stages of the season. This saga had a domino effect on the team’s aerodynamics department as Adrian Newey recently announced that he would leave the team soon in 2025. Subsequently, after his announcement, Helmut Marko claimed that the Brit would be seen repping the red Ferrari outfit from next season onwards.

Adrian Newey is one of the most revered designers to have ever graced the F1 paddock. The 65-year-old has an array of world championships amassed to his name and the loss of this design genius could unsettle a top team from the ground up. Subsequently, when it was announced that Newey would be leaving Red Bull, rumors started spooling around the paddock regarding where would be the design head’s new home.

Helmut Marko gave a prediction on where the Englishman would head next.

In view of 2026, the most experienced designer on the market will no longer be with us and I fear that it will be with a rival team. Will he be dressed in green? I was misunderstood, I think red [Ferrari].
Helmut Marko said in an interview with OE24.

The Austrian stated that he feared losing the legendary designer to other rivals. However, he reckoned that if Newey had to leave the Austrian giant, then he would move to the highly ambitious Aston Martin project. But it seems more likely than ever that the 65-year-old would head to Maranello next year according to Marko.

Could Adrian Newey’s exit impact Max Verstappen’s future at Red Bull?

The Brit’s creations have been the driving factor of Max Verstappen‘s dominance in F1. Moreover, another world title is anticipated to be headed the Dutchman’s way with another Newey masterpiece. However, with his exit confirmed, rumors regarding Verstappen having trust in the team have been at an all-time high and propose that the 26-year-old would be leaving the team after Newey’s separation is executed.

In stark contrast to such rumors, the Austrian seemed relaxed about speculations regarding his star driver leaving.

The 2026 regulations are definitely a turning point. But Max wants to drive in the car in which he is most likely to win, at the moment that is Red Bull. As long as we give him a car that can win, I assume he will stay with Red Bull.
Helmut Marko said in an interview with OE24.

The 80-year-old claimed that the ’26 regulations would level the playing field. On the other hand, he stated that Verstappen wanted to stay with a team that had the fastest car, and if the Austrian giant would create another monster, then there was no doubt that the Dutchman would think twice about staying in Milton Keynes.

Despite Marko’s relaxed demeanor, the driver market is quite volatile and anything is expected to happen in the coming few days. So, it will be an interesting next few weeks as the peak of the silly season is yet to be reached.
